Oxygen Concentrator
An oxygen concentrator or oxygen machine is a device that uses molecular SIEVE to seperate oxygen and nitrogen molecules from room air. A pump brings in room air which is comprised of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. Using a technology called pressure swing absorption, room air is forced through a column containing the SIEVE material.
The composition of molecular SIEVE allows oxygen molecules to pass through the SIEVE.
Nitrogen molecules are too big to pass through the SIEVE and are exhausted out of the machine into room air.
Concentrated oxygen molecules are collected and stored in a product tank, the resulting oxygen rich air is delivered to the patient.
